Been across this stretch 3 times winter and spring. Had lovely weather - flat calm across the bay of biscay. If I was any good at putting pictures on the internet I would show you the sun's reflection on the sea! Of course, if you take me with you I could guarantee the weather! Lucky you, enjoy the warmth and sun all the way, even though you will not be crossing the B of B. The worst weather I have experienced has been in the western Med!

we did the repositioning cruise on ov1 in november of last year, we left southampton, and went to the carribbean via maderia, and our weather was perfect, no rough seas whatsoever, we may have been lucky, but couldnt fault the weather at all, the sun was even shinning in southampton!

Bill Blyth paints rather a dour picture but I think you might be better off than that although nothing is guaranteed as far as the weather is concerned. You are taking a southerly route across the Atlantic, below the tropic of Cancer for most of the way so that should keep you out of the rougher weather and in the sunshine. I would have preferred it to be across to the Canaries as opposed to Madeira but you should be ok and certainly nothing like the more northerly trans-Atlantic crossings. Regards.... Neil

A friend did this crossing last year and had 2 days of very heavy seas and certainly no one was out sunbathing until they got nearer to the Canaries and Madeira. We did Nova Scotia to Scotland and some days we had 40/50 foot waves but the ship was the SS Norway, formerly the SS France and was designed to ride out 3 waves at a time because of its length so it was not to bad and most apart from the few still had a good time and that is the main thing, but these type of cruises offer good value for money.
