Q:
Hi, Does anyone have any information on Cabin A172 and Cabin A198 on Ocean Village?. We are a little worried about the location of these cabins due to the restaurant and the pool area being above. We still have time to change these cabins if necessary, so any info would really be helpful. Many Thanks, Dawn Hall

My husband and I went on Ocean Village a couple of yrs ago round the Caribbean, our cabin was not the one of the ones mentioned . We are avid cruise takers and have been on most ships and I have to say that while the destinations were fantastic as you would expect, the ship in general left a lot to be desired from previous ships/cruises. We were not made aware that the only resteraunt that was free was the help yourself, all the others had a charge and more importantly you had to buy a bottle of whiskey for example to take to your room but to be allowed to take the bottle you had to pay I think it was £10 cork charge to have the luxury of having a nightcap in bed, In all our cruising adventures we have never experienced either of these two restrictions. It was an eye opener and one we don't want to experience again, therefore we have not returned to ocean village despite their aggressive marketing campaign to previous customers.

We were on A deck, but not in these particular cabins, during the Easter holidays. The only noise we experienced was towards the end of the qweek when children decided to race around the deck late at night. However, we reported it and the security staff soon put a stop to it.
Otherwise no complaints about cruise, cabin or food.

Dawn, We have just returned from two weeks on OV2 cruising round the Med. We had a cabin 10147 on B Deck, no noise, cut we did talk to someone on A Deck and they complained about the noise of the chairs being rearranged. We had a super time and are planning to try OV1 next year. Enjoy your cruise. Brenda - North Wales

Dawn, if you have the chance I recommend you change.Staff tidy up the deck/pool area each night with no care for those below so you hear the chairs and beds being slid across the deck in the early hours.Get cabins above you.

If you can, try to move to a lower deck. We found B deck to be the absolute best after 5 trips on OV & OV2. The A deck is nice but you do get noise when people (not just staff) drag the chairs across the floor, especially late at night when it's very quiet elsewhere. Then you get the early morning joggers who start anytime from 5.30 am!! You'll have a great time though, no matter what cabin you are in, on OV. But don't try OV2 as you will end up really disappointed.

We stayed in A198 3 years ago and there was no noise from the pool at all. There was a very slight noise on occasional nights from the restaurant but the only time we noticed it was when chairs were pulled across the floor adn when it was very quiet on board, in the middle of the night and the sea was very calm, ie. only once in 2 weeks. I would stay in that cabin again. Lynn

No problems with any of the top decks (A), reasonably quiet, just the odd bang and scrape of chair. But this is just the same as the cabins below that we have also been in. Do not worry and enjoy your voyage.
