Just returned from a seven day villas and vino cruise aboard Ocean village 2, this was first time on a cruise holiday so didnt know what to expect, i will be honest in my view. The cabin we had was on deck 6 it was spacious, clean, and plenty of storage space, we had a window which let in plenty of light and sun !. The cabin staff and the waiters were friendly and polite and ready to assist you in any way, the staff on main reception were not so friendly and maybe needed some english lessons. The food could not be faulted we mostly used the plantation and the waterfront restuarants, didnt try the James Martin bistro, heard it was overated. The food was nicely presented, there was no queus and plenty of variety from fancy food to good old english fry ups and apple crumble !. The entertainment was a bit of a let down, most night it was standing room only and the singers tended to shout, comedian was funny and the tribute act was ok. We went on a few trips the best being Monaco/Monte carlo a lovely places with stunning scenery, but beware very expensive in monte carlo 6 euros for a coke !, the pompeii trip was ok but didnt think you saw as much as you would if you went all day, the trip to Sorentto was not very long and the free meal was served by grumpy italians and the food was childsize portion. Didnt go on the pisa trip heard it was a very long journey and hardly any time when you got there, had a much better day going round the town of livorna, we went on a saturday and they had a huge market there and loads of shops, when the ship docks turn right and go over a small bridge and you are in the town go early tho the shops close at 1.30 for a few hours and the market packs up as well. On the days on board ship it was nice to sit on the decks they do get crowded and most seats go early, some people leave there towels on them, if you notice this after 15mins and they havnt returned just fold them up and give them to a member of staff and have your turn on the sunbeds !. You can use the resturants and take the food outside if you want to, didnt use any of the gym or spa facilities far to expensive. The age group was quite varied, few young couples, quite a few kids, would say average age about 35-45, not to many old fossils, tho they always seemed to have the seats in the evening, only saw one german couple nearly everyone was english. Any complaints, the swimming pool was tiny for the size of the ship, our toilet and our friends toilet got blocked but was fixed straight away, the bottled water in the cabin could of been free, and the time spent at pompeii a bit longer. Overall we all enjoyed it, and will be saving up to return maybe in a couple of years time.
