Hi, my family and me went on our second cruise this year with Ocean Village to the Greek Islands, I am nine years old and my twin sister and my older teenage sister, mum, dad and nana came with me. I really liked the flight to Crete although airplane food yuk! When we arrived it was really hot, the boat looked brilliant, I was really excited.
On arriving we had our photo taken for the I.D. card and Paddington Bear was there to meet us. We had to wait a bit before we could go to our cabin, which was nice you got cookies and there was a fridge. We had bunk beds which were ace and they came down from the ceiling, the ladders were a bit tricky but soon got used to them, my big sister and nana were on a different deck to us and they didn't have bunk beds but their room was the same as ours. There was a tv in the corner, dad kept watching the news, but he couldn't see the telly when my bed was pulled down so had to sit on mums or the chair. I went to explore the ship, and soon knew where I was going, mum and dad kept getting lost.
I really liked the swimming pool it was well deep 6`4" all round no shallow end, but there is a baby pool on one of the other decks, it was nice and cold when you first got in but soon warmed up, but they have lots of woggles and floats to use. Some afternoons there was the game where you had to knock the other person off the pole with a pillowcase stuffed with balloons, that was ace. I won a couple of times. The cinema is good, funny movies although some you had to be over 8 to watch.
The food was all very nice (from a fussy eater and allergy suffer thats good) the chefs were great and gave me a chefs hat.
The kids club was brilliant. Hideout and Basecamp, you meet new friends, loads of games to play some involve going all around the ship. You can come and go as you please you don't have to stay if you dont want to, which was good cos my twin sister hates that kind of thing reminds her of nursery, so she was ok knowing she could leave when she wanted to.
Having my own card for drinks was good I felt grown up as I didn't have to keep asking mum or dad if I could have a drink or ice cream, the cards cost £15 for 20 drinks, and depends on how much coke you have mine lasted the fortnight, (I dont drink a lot). Mum bought bottles of water when on shore and kept them in the fridge.
My favourite restaurant was the Waterfront because the Chefs were really nice to me and invited me to go into the kitchen, also the food was good.
I enjoyed the trips out seeing all the different places we went to, My sisters were scared in Turkey as they kept trying to touch their hair (they are both blondes).
I would thoroughly recommend a cruise its great for the small people the kids club opened at 10am and closed around midnight, my mum usually came looking for me around 10.30 and on occasions we would go to the Plantation on deck 12 and get a late snack, burger and chips before bed. Its brilliant and I didn't want to leave, I was making plans to stowaway. Any bad bits, to be honest I can't think of any, I suppose my mum and dad might think there were as mum did say the entertainment was the only thing lacking it was poor in. So go on give it a go, you never know you might really enjoy it.
Quality of Food4
All food was brilliant, we tried all sorts of different food daily.
Entertainment1
Entertainment was poor, lacking in shows, comedians that were not funny, the Rod Stewart was good, but Fever, was pitched too much in the erotica I've seen more erotic on Neighbours.
Shore Excursions2
The tour guides were excellent and very informative, nice places to see, but for only half a day far to expensive, not very good value for money.
Staff4
Clive, our Cabin Steward, bless him I dont think he ever saw the light of day. From early morning to late at night, we was super, and really nice to the kids.
Children's Facilities5
Brilliant, what more can I say, I did not see my son for two weeks, he loved it.
Onboard Activities2
Did not bother with these, but others appeared to be ok with them
Cabins4
Cabin was fine, for a place to sleep it fullfilled our requirements
Overall Rating4

Hello my mum showed me your review and I thought it was amazingly good. I am also 9 years old and am going on Ocean Village next May with my mum and her partner. I am a bit worried about feeling seasick and the boat rocking, did you feel OK? The kids club sounds good.

Hi, you have no need to worry about seasickness, as you can not feel the boat moving at all, we had one rough day and we could tell only because the swimming pool was like a wave machinewhich was great but spoiled because the staff told us we were not allowed to go in, but the captain did his best to find a quiet bit and it soon settled down. Hope you have a good time.

If you are a young child your parents had to decide whether the content may be suitable for children. Many were happy to allow their child to watch an excellent show with great dancing and superb singing. sorry you were dissappointed that it was not more erotic. makes me think you are Dad all along !!

I wrote the review, but my mum made the overall comments at the end re the entertainment, due to the pitch of the "Fever" show I wasn't allowed to attend.

If you have written this review yourself - well done!. Excellent spelling, grammar and layout, which is more than can be said for many adults writing on this site.
