Simply the Best

Ocean Village 19 June – 02 July 08
This was our Second cruise the first was with Thompsons on the now out service Topaz.

We Flew from Manchester at 0730hrs and we arrived in Crete at around 1330hrs local time a flight of around 4 hours an uneventful flight. We were met by OV staff and our cases were collected from us and delivered to our Cabin its was a 15 bus ride to the port where we were welcomed and sorted out how we were going to pay for drinks ect on board we boarded the ship about 1430 hrs Went to our Cabin and was greeted by our Cabin steward a lovely girl named Lorri We unpacked and took a stroll to get our bearings.

It was about time we had some thing to eat and we ended up in the waterfront restaurant From this our first meal until our last meal we couldn’t find any thing to complain about we had read loads of reviews prior to sailing but there was something for everybody. And lots of it always piping hot.

We had a few hours on the sundeck here there were loads of sun beds that were really comfortable you were supplied with towels in your cabin for the use on decks you could change these any time you liked.
Life boat drills were next these were well organised with plenty of staff on hand to direct you to your muster stations.

Back to the cabin for a quick snooze showered changed in time for dinner (well any time you want to eat there is food. We were concerned that people wouldn’t make the effort and dress for dinner well the majority did there were only a couple of people who didn’t.

We met loads off new friends who we are still in touch with and some that we have planned to go and visit. The staffs were really helpful and what shocked me two of the bar staff remembered not only our name but also our cabin numbers amazing. The ports of call were all lovely places our favourites were Rhodes, Santorini, and Dubrovnik I am not going to drown on about the ships tours other than to say they were expensive but you didn’t have to do them.

The Ship was always spotlessly clean and the staff work really hard to keep it that way
Having mentioned the food on board I would like to mention the Bistro and La Luna We booked three nights at the Bistro for £56 great value we ate there at the beginning of the cruise in the middle and near the end the one in the middle was my wife’s 50th birthday the staff were great they all sang her a happy birthday they made a real fuss they decorated her desert plate and wrote happy birthday using piped cream and a bottle wine to boot. (The fillet steaks were excellent) We only ate once at La Luna Steak and lobster We did this on our last night should of done it more often.

OK the only bad thing I want to mention is that they will sell you sprits from the duty free shop but charge you £5 to take it to your room, they say they don’t want you to bring spirits on board and you bags are checked and scanned coming back on board but we brought several bottles on board and the security staff never blink an eye so it was a Jamerson’s nightcap for me and a Bacardi for the one who must be obeyed.

All in all this is the best holiday we have ever had and we are going to do the Caribbean With Ocean Village next year.

Big thanks to all the staff
