DONT TRY OCEAN VILLAGE- LOW QUALITY BUT GOOD PORTS

Sailed on Ocean Village in 2007 September. Ports of call interesting ie Panama Canal. Service on board was good but food was ok but everything else was terrible. No soda fountain and had to pay for every drink. I don't drink tea or coffee. Fruit Juice was also not avialable free only at breakfast. SO drinks ended up being expensive. My husband and I would use the threatre for shows which were awful. The theatre is badly laid out with metal bar railings on the balcony which are at eye height so stopping the view from seats, the seats on the main level were angled away from the main stage so had cran your neck to see the stage. The rooms were in bad condition our room which was ocean view was in poor condition, the paper and paint looked old and in the eighties not up top date. The bathroom saniatary ware was chipped and looked like it was out of the eighties. It also took over 1 1/2 hours for us to disembark at one port, with waiting area for all excursions that day waiting at the same time and not in staggered times or areas like other curises. The ship was physically not capable of docking at a number of ports, for example we were meant to dock at Ocho Rios in Jamica and Grand Cayman, both ports were wind swept which is normal for this part of the caribbean but were told this was stressing the main beans of the ship out and could not dock. In Grand Catman all the docks are anchor points and the ship could not handle a force 2 wind state so could not dock here, again this normal for these parts. We missed these ports and the entermainment staff did not know what to do with all the passengers. VERY POOR. Everytime we were also in dock there were divers down fixing the main stabilisers hence I was sick in the main buffet area and made the staff close this area down. Oh well what a pity never mind it serves them right for not having a ship that can handle this part of the caribbean. Moral of the story is never go with Ocean Village try somebody such as Norwegian Crusie Lines (NCL). We did New York to the Bahamas about 5 years ago, this was our first cruise which was excellent or Royal Caribbean which also sounds on a par with NCL. We paid around about £1200 plus rather expensive excurisons, each for this cruise, enjoyed the parts of the caribbean it went to but regretted spending so much for this curise and it was not even a balcony.
Quality of Food2
OK but the fancy dining rooms wer all too fance and expensive.
Entertainment1
Performaces were poor not co-orindated and out of tune, music too lo9ud, no point to the planet show as the weather was windy which is normal for the caribbean. TV Cabin films were good this saved this cruise for us.
Shore Excursions2
Very expensive
Staff2
All ok but not outstanding
Children's Facilitiesn/a
BAGPUSS Interactive show was good this was the only ecent enterainment on the boat and this was for kids
Onboard Activities1
Two extra sea days due to weather - staff did not know what to do with us passengers on this day, member of deck staff did not know how to play dominoes etc
Cabins1
Our cabin paint was awful - sanitary ware such as basin was chipped and looked like it was out of the eightes. Brown color.

If you cant remember the month you went how then can you remember acurately details of the time on board. I was on the ship in November 08. I do NOT recognise the ship you are describing. Wonder why.

I think that this is a made up review. I also can't believe that Giles expected a balcony for £1200!! OV doesn't need customers like this one.

We did the same cruise in March this year on Ocean Village 1 and had a lovely time. I agree with Ann from Wharfedale it is still in the Med in September so I don't know how he was in the Caribbean at that time. Some people have nothing better to do than moan.
